True Virtue Update

It's not much..I thought I had stitched the house in the wrong color and ripped it out only to find out it was the right color. So I restitched the house and have done a few leaves and apples on the tree..I have a valentine mail art exchange that is due Jan.26 so I started on that but haven't gotten very far on that either..It's just to busy of a time to get much stitching in..At least I have all the shopping finished and I have everything for our Christmas meal so I think I can stay home today and straighten up the house .Tomorrow I will bake the pies..I hope you all have a wonderful christmas day and have lots of family around you to make memories..

Peanut Butter Pie ( 9' pie )

4 0z. cream cheese ( room temperature )

1/2 bowl cool whip ( 8 oz. )
1 9 inch prepared graham cracker crust

Mix cream cheese with powdered sugar.

When I make this I always buy two graham cracker crusts and make two pies..

Little Darlin

Here's little darlin..Her name was Angel when I got her but I had to change her name because she is not an Angel but a little darlin..I have probably had her for 2 years..My girlfriend got this bird from her neighbor to breed with her parakeet..It didn't work out because little darlin was mean to her bird blue boy so she asked me if I wanted her..I thought sure although I had never owned a bird before..I feel so sad for little darlin as she has no life being in this cage day in and day out..I can't take her out and fool with her because Merriweather is so jealous..I do let her out of her cage every so often so she can fly around the house and stretch her wings..I take the top off her cage and she will fly to her cage when she is ready to go home..I will never own another bird..I think it is cruel for these little things to spend their lives in a cage..I wish so much that I could set her free but that can't be as she would never survive..I take her outside when the weather is nice and that is where she is in this picture..I wish that I could find her a loving home where she could be handled..I have had plenty of people that wanted her but there is no way that I will give her to someone just to get rid of her..

Mail art exchange

Have you ever thought about joining a mail art exchange ..but haven't because you have never stitched one before.Don't let that stop you..come on over and give it a try..Today is the last day to sign up for this exchange but there will be more in the future. The only thing I ask is don't join if you will not follow through with your commitment..its not fair to the girl that you stitch for if she doesn't receive one after she has stitched for someone else.

Right now we have a small group but the girls are all very nice and any of them would help you with any questions you would have...But let me warn you mail art can become an addiction..I know from personal experience :-)

True Virtue Sampler by Janie Appelbaum

Awhile back I seen on Joanie's blog that she wanted to stitch this piece and she posted a picture..I had forgot about this sampler that I had started so many years ago..I don't know why I put this down..Its a beautiful sampler and I still love it..So this morning I decided to dig this out and find the chart..When you are as organized as I am this can take hours sometimes as my stitching stuff is in many rooms and drawers..I hope someday to have my own little stitching room and at least keep everything in one place..
Well this is my new project for now..I will try and keep you updated on my progress..My son is home from college for thanksgiving break so we are enjoying him..Since he started college we don't get to see him very often..Hope everyone is having a great day with lots of stitching..

Blooms

Thought I would share a couple pictures of my plants in bloom..The christmas cactus is beautiful..it is so cheerful and makes me smile everytime I walk past it..The second plant is a jade plant I didn't know they bloomed until about 3 years back when this one started ..It is dreary here today and I am going to sweep the leaves off my patio again..I swept it twice yesterday and mulced the leaves twice..We had a bit of rain last night so I will have to wait till the leaves are dry to mulch again..

Homemade egg noodles

2 cups all-purpose flour or wheat flour
3 egg yolks
1 egg
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 to 1/2 cup water

Make a well in center of flour. Add egg yolks, egg and salt; Mix thoroughly. Mix in water, 1 Tablespoon at a time until dough is stiff but easy to roll.
Divide dough into 4 equal parts. Roll dough, one part at a time, into paper-thin rectangle on well floured cloth covered board ( keep remaining dough covered ). Loosely fold rectangle lengthwise into thirds, cut crosswise into 1/9-inch stripsfor narrow noodles, 1/4 inch strips for wide noodles. Shake out strips and place on towel until stiff and dry, about 2 hours.
Break dry strips into smaller pieces. Cook in 3 quarts boiling water ( 1 Tablespoon salt ) until tender, 12 to 15 minutes, drain..( To cook half the noodles, use 2 quarts water and 2 teaspoons salt ).
Do-Ahead Tip: After drying, noodles can be covered and stored no longer than 1 month

I don't roll mine out as thin as they say because we like a thicker noodle..and I make mine wide..
I have never made these cooked in plain water..I most usually cook some good chicken ..You need a good broth I have used beef and pork but chicken is our favorite..
I don't break my noodles up either..You see how I cut them ..I just throw them in the broth like that..and I have never stored them because I throw them all in the pot..I have added pictures of my noodles so you can see..If you make them let me know how you guys like them..
I have been making these for probably close to 30 years and they are a favorite over store bought in our house..
